“There’s always a question about what happened to John Curtis in the reunion movies,” Norton shared. “For some reason, and I’m not sure of all the reasons behind it, budgetary issues may have been a factor. You know, they only have so much money to work with when producing these films. Naturally, the priority is to bring back the original cast members—John-Boy, Momma, Daddy, and Ellen when she could join them. These were the top priorities for the budget.”
Norton also touched on the challenges of working with child actors. “Children can be tricky to work with due to time restrictions and the requirement to have teachers on set,” she noted. “It’s possible the writers decided it was too much hassle to include all the kids, so they just sort of fudged it.”
