Over a year since the passing of beloved comedian Bob Saget, Katie Couric opened up about her personal connection to the late star. In a candid episode of "Next Question With Katie Couric," an iHeartPodcast, the seasoned newscaster sat down with Saget’s widow, Kelly Rizzo, and close friend John Stamos to reminisce about the Hollywood icon who touched so many lives.
Looking back, Katie, now 66, shared a memorable story with her guests about a date she once had with Saget. "I really liked him," she said warmly. "He was so cute, funny, and amusing. We had a great time together, and I thought we shared a pretty memorable kiss in the foyer of my apartment. It was just one of those nights that you remember fondly."
Kelly Rizzo, now 44, chimed in with heartfelt words about Katie. "He always thought you were lovely," she said with a smile. "He was such a big fan of yours. He adored you." Despite the fond memories, Katie revealed a twist in the story: Saget ended up ghosting her after their date.

"Well, apparently not enough to call me again," Katie joked with a laugh. "But that’s okay because it all worked out. He found the love of his life with you, Kelly. It's clear that Bob had a special place in his heart for you."
Bob Saget's Journey Through Love
Saget, best known for his role as Danny Tanner on "Full House," married Kelly in 2018. Before finding love with her, he was married to his first wife, Sherri Kramer, from 1982 to 1997. During that time, Saget became the proud father of three daughters: Aubrey, Lara, and Jennifer. His legacy as a devoted father and husband left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
Bob Saget was a beloved figure in Hollywood, known for his affable personality, comedic talent, and warm energy on set. He had a knack for making everyone around him feel at ease. John Stamos, 60, developed a lifelong friendship with his "Full House" co-star, even offering advice when it came to dating.
"Katie, if you and I went out instead of you and Bob, we'd probably still be dating," John joked during the podcast. "Out of me, Dave Coulier, and Saget, you could have started with me! I think Bob was intimidated by you. I had to step in and give him advice like Cyrano de Bergerac. I would tell him exactly what to text, what to say, and what to do on those dates."
John continued, "I should have revisited my texts because I feel like I was texting him, 'Don’t blow it. Act smart around Katie. She’s a very intelligent woman; she isn’t just beautiful. Be careful, Bob.’"
Remembering Bob Saget: A Life Cut Short
Tragically, Saget passed away on January 9, 2022, at the age of 65 while on a stand-up comedy tour. He was found in his room at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Florida. During the podcast, John Stamos broke down in tears as he reflected on Saget’s final moments.

"I just picture him going to bed, thinking about all of us, all the people he loved, believing he would see us again, and that the laughter hadn’t died down," John shared emotionally. "And then he left us. But that’s the way I hope he felt when he fell asleep and didn’t wake up—a peaceful, loving goodbye."
