Mark Consuelos Opens Up About Patrick Mahomes
Mark Consuelos, husband of Kelly Ripa and co-host of Live With Kelly and Mark, had some strong words for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes after the team's AFC Championship victory. In a lighthearted segment, Mark joked about the star athlete’s exceptional talent during the January 29 episode.
At the start of the show, Mark, who's 52 years old, addressed the audience with an energetic tone. "Hey football fans, big day last night," he began. "The Chiefs beat the Ravens, and I believe it was by a touchdown. What a thrilling game!" His enthusiasm was palpable, even if it came with a hint of teasing for his favorite rival.
The Audience Reacts to the Chiefs' Victory
As Mark spoke about the game, murmurs of discontent rippled through the audience. "You guys are really not happy about that," Kelly Ripa noted, responding to the groans from the crowd. The energy in the room was electric as fans expressed their mixed feelings about the Chiefs' triumph.

The final score was 17-10, securing the Chiefs' spot in Super Bowl LVIII, set to take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on February 11. The anticipation was building, and Mark's comments only added fuel to the fire.
Acknowledging Mahomes' Talent
Despite his playful jab, Mark couldn't help but express admiration for Mahomes' skills. "That guy. That quarterback Mahomes is so good, it's annoying," Mark admitted, earning a laugh from the audience. "He's truly fantastic. You have to marvel at his athletic prowess. This guy is just incredible."
He continued, "He seems like a wonderful man, a great guy. I mean, how can you not respect someone who plays the game with such passion and skill? But yeah, he's just so good, it's hard not to feel a little salty."
Audience Member Weighs In
Just as Mark was elaborating on his thoughts, a voice from the crowd chimed in, "He's very cute." Mark, taken aback, responded with a chuckle, "And he's very cute. Oh, okay, well, okay." His reaction drew laughter from both the audience and his co-host, Kelly.
The All My Children star seemed momentarily thrown off, shaking his head while glancing at the camera. "They made it to... I was going to say the World Series. Wait, no, it's not the World Series," he corrected himself. "They made it to the Super Bowl. They beat the Ravens. Last night, the Lions, America's team, went head-to-head with the 49ers, and they came out swinging."

Kelly, 53, then asked, "Have you checked on my dad?" Referring to her father, Joseph Ripa, a devoted Detroit Lions fan. Mark replied, "No," before wrapping up the segment by congratulating the two teams set to face off in the Super Bowl.

The Rivalry Continues
Mark is a well-known supporter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while Kelly roots for the Philadelphia Eagles. Throughout the NFL season, the couple has engaged in playful banter over their teams' performances. They've even placed several bets, adding an extra layer of excitement to their discussions on Live With Kelly and Mark.
After the Buccaneers triumphed over the Eagles in the NFL Wildcard Round, Kelly lost a bet to her husband and had to eat a Cuban sandwich live on air alongside producer Ashley Lewis. "Ash said to me last night, she goes, 'I really don’t feel like eating a Cuban sandwich at 9:00 in the morning. And I go, 'Nobody does!'" Kelly joked to the audience on January 16.
