Walking onto the set of Ladies of the '80s: A Divas Christmas was like coming home for Loni Anderson. The legendary actress joined forces with three of her longtime friends and one fresh face in this delightful holiday film, creating a perfect blend of nostalgia and new beginnings.
“We all had ties to CBS back in the day,” Loni recalls warmly, reminiscing about her iconic role as Jennifer Marlowe on WKRP in Cincinnati from 1978 to 1982. “Even though we weren’t part of the same shows, we hung out quite a bit. It feels like destiny brought us back together now.”

This heartwarming tale isn’t just about revisiting the past—it’s about creating something new and magical. “I’m a sucker for feel-good movies,” Loni, 78, shares exclusively with Closer. “When I read the script, I thought, ‘Where do I sign up?’ It’s such a unique and uplifting story.”
A Career Focused on Joy and Fun
With a storied career spanning both film and television, Loni has already achieved so much. These days, she’s selective about her projects, prioritizing experiences that bring her joy. “At this stage of my life, I don’t need drama,” she admits candidly. “I want to work with great people and have a blast while doing it. That’s what this movie offered me.”
Despite her success, Loni remains eager to take on fresh challenges. “I’ve always wanted to play someone dark and mysterious,” she reveals. “It would be thrilling to explore a role like that. But honestly, nothing beats comedy. Being funny around funny people is my dream gig.”
Love and Music: Loni’s Personal Journey
Since 2008, Loni has been happily married to musician Bob Flick, a founding member of the folk group the Brothers Four. Their connection dates back to the 1960s, when a teenage Loni fell head over heels for his music. “I was 17, and he was this cool guy in his mid-20s,” she remembers fondly. “We lost touch for a while, but when I saw him on PBS years later, I knew I had to reach out. Thankfully, the chemistry was still there!”
Family is another cornerstone of Loni’s life. She shares a close bond with her two adult children: daughter Deidra, from her first marriage, and son Quinton, whose father was none other than Burt Reynolds, her co-star in Stroker Ace. Despite the publicized drama surrounding their divorce in 1994, Loni holds only positive memories of her time with Burt. “He was a dear friend before we met and remained one until his passing in 2018,” she says. “He introduced me to incredible people and gave me one of the greatest gifts of all—our son.”
Celebrating the Holidays with Loved Ones
As the holiday season approaches, Loni is excited to spend quality time with her family. “Cooking is a huge part of our traditions,” she explains. “We’ve got these amazing family recipes that everyone gathers around to enjoy. The kitchen becomes the heart of our celebrations.”
