The family shared a heartfelt message on his verified X account: “Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. The "Should've Been a Cowboy" singer first revealed his cancer diagnosis in June 2022, a year after he was initially diagnosed. In a candid message to his fans, he explained, “I’ve spent the last six months receiving chemo, radiation, and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover, and relax. I am looking forward to spending time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait.”
Throughout his journey, Keith kept his fans updated on his health, sharing both the highs and lows. In September 2023, he told E! News, “It’s a little bit of a roller coaster. You get good days and, you know, you’re up and down, up and down.
